Manny Ruiz adds the 559 Fights Flyweight Title to Team KO's trophy case

559 Fights was back at the Rawhide Stadium in Visalia, Ca for 559 Fights 16 "Ruiz vs Hernandez". The Central Valley MMA fans were treated to a eight bout card full of some of the best amateur MMA fighters in the area.
The main event would decide the promotions first flyweight champion, as Visalia's undefeated (4-0-1) Manny "Beast" Ruiz took on Bakersfield's (5-1) Raphael Hernandez. Hernandez looked to take the fight to the ground in round one, but Ruiz defended well along the cage.
In round two Ruiz put Hernandez on the canvas with a take down, where he then worked his way to full mount and landed some nice punches. Hernandez looking to escape, gave up his back. Ruiz then locked in a rear naked choke that would force the tap at 2:43 in round 2. Making Manny Ruiz the 559 Fights Flyweight Champion.
In the co main event Bakersfield's (4-1-1) Marcel Cyprian won a decision over Exeter's (2-0) Eric Diaz. Cyprian was able to fight off Diaz's take down attempts and land some knees while doing so from the clinch. Cyprian nearly had a guillotine synched in but Diaz escaped as the fight went into round 2. Cyprian scored a take down in round two where he landed some punches, but also found him self in trouble when Diaz caught him in a arm bar. Cyprian escaped and fought off a take down attempt for most of round three as the fight went the distance. Where judges scored the fight a unanimous decision for Marcel Cyprian.
Holt Felkins out of Bakersfield kept his undefeated record in tact, by submitting Visalia's Devon Chavez. Felkins was able to lock up a arm bar that made Chavez tap at 1:50 in round 1.
"The Princess" Veronica Luna defeats Elisabeth Couch by tko. Luna took Couch down where she moved to full mount and rained down punches until the referee stopped the fight at 1:36 in round 1.
Farmersville's Jeffery Lewis made a successful debut stopping Aaron Ziegler by tko at 1:50 in round 3.
Aaron Partin defeats Michaal Runningwind by tko at 1:22 of round 1.
Chris Huerta stops Fabian Luevano by tko in just :22 seconds, with a barrage of punches that had Luevano out on his feet.
Jeff Flowers defeats David Mariscal by unanimous decision.
