ROY "HITBOY" ARRIOLA WINS @ REDHAWK CASINO
Arriola has overcame a lot in order to get ready for this fight, as he was coming off a major injury suffered in December of 2008. This injury almost ended his career, which was a good indicator of how 2008 had gone for him. He had to pull out of two fights due to injury. He also had allowed his weight to get all the way up to 285 lbs. But through hard work, he got down to 220 lbs. for this fight. Wasting no time getting down to business, Arriola made it a short night winning by submission ( north-south choke) in 1:07 of Rd 1
Matt Mitrione Believes Fight With Slice Still On Schedule
With the recent signing by the Ultimate Fighting Championship of boxing heavyweight champion James Toney, rumors have surfaced that Toney may face Youtube sensation Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson in his first bout, leaving some question about the status of “Slice’s” fight against Matt Mitrione at UFC 115.
Mitrione (1-0), a former NFL player, made his MMA debut at “The Ultimate Fighter” season 10 Finale against fellow “TUF” fighter Marcus “Big Baby” Jones, defeating the fan favorite via KO in the second round of their bout.
He spoke recently about the situation.
“I have no clue what’s going on; the last 15 hours have been pretty crazy,” Mitrione said. “To be truly honest, I haven’t heard a thing from the UFC, and it’s frustrating me. It’s my understanding that it took awhile to get his paperwork signed, but I’m sure it’s signed.
“Then again, that doesn’t mean (expletive). When I was in the NFL I signed a contract, they signed a contract, and they can cut you whenever they want. I know that from first-hand experience.”
As of Friday morning, Mitrione said he still was expecting to face Slice in May, even though the bout does not appear on the UFC 113 fight card on the organization’s Web site.
However, Mitrione did admit that the rumors and phone calls had him a little worried because, as he put it, “Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.”
He also said he had received a somewhat generic response from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva when he tried to find out if the original fight between he and Slice was still on.
“I texted Joe Silva (Thursday) night and asked what was happening, if there was any danger of this being cancelled,” Mitrione said. “His response was basically that nothing was official and that I should keep preparing — that I’m still fighting in Montreal.”

DARCHINYAN OVER GUERRERO
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. —Australian Victor Darchinyan scored an unanimous decision against Rodrigo Guerrero of Mexico City to retain his WBC and WBA super flyweight titles Saturday night at The Show inside the Agua Caliente Casino.
The judges scored the bout 118-110, 117-111 and 120-108.
Darchinyan (34-2-1, 27 KOs), known for his spectacular knockouts, couldn’t put down the tough Guerrero, whose head was rocked back numerous times. The only time Guerrero (13-2-1) went down was from a slip at the start of the 10th round.
Late in the bout, Darchinyan landed multiple heavy punches against Guerrero, even knocking out the challenger’s mouthpiece in the seventh round.
CRUZ WINS WEC BANTAMWEIGHT STRAP
Dominick Cruz is a crafty guy who stuck to his gameplan of movement and fakes. Apparently, his head is made of granite too. When Brian Bowles could actually catch him, the former WEC bantamweight champ, landed a few big shots but he it hurt him more than Cruz. On the doctor's advice, Bowles couldn't come out for the third round because of a badly injured right hand giving the 24-year-old Cruz his first world title via TKO stoppage.

James Toney Signs with UFC
After stalking UFC President Dana White over the last few months current IBA and NABO Boxing heavyweight champion James ‘Lights Out’ Toney gets his wish and reportedly signs a multi-fight deal with the UFC where he will now venture into the world of Mixed Martial Arts for the first time at the age of 41 years old.
Toney who has said that he can do it all has held Boxing championships in four different weight classes which include middleweight, super middleweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight belts and holds a career pro record of 72 wins, 6 losses, 3 draws and 2 no-contests, but now comes into the sport of MMA with a record of 0-0, so we will see just how ‘Lights Out’ can sustain numerous leg kicks, cage control and submissions after talking smack on such fighters as Chuck Liddell, Kimbo Slice, Brock Lesnar and others just to name a few.
In this video interview with StrikeForce middleweight contender Dan Henderson, we hear the former PRIDE dual champion’s thoughts on his upcoming fight against Jake Shields in Nashville for the 185 pound tittle.
